In 2013, UWE launched it’s first ever festival-style Summer Ball. Development of the branding was thorough and, by working closely with event organisers, the festival’s ‘grass-roots glamour’ theming was reflected in all materials. As the promotion was launched well in advance and there were no previous photographs to aid promotion, emphasis was placed on the field location and the hazy sunshine, a particularly appealing idea in winter. Logo and typography were kept very clean and minimal, so as not to conflict with the strong photography.
Jack worked closely with UWE Students’ Union to produce the initial branding, but then handed over artwork production entirely to the SU and external events company Volume 12, who together produced all materials in the run-up to the event.
